Hi, I’m Carolyn Baines. I have always been passionate about
teaching, learning and helping students to reach their full potential.
There was never a doubt that I would end up as a teacher.
I have 28 years teaching experience and before emigrating to
New Zealand in 1998, held the position of Deputy Principal of a
school based in Staffordshire.
The move to NZ with my husband and three children has been one of the
most exciting and rewarding experiences for us all. During my time here
in NZ I implemented a programme, initially to one school based in the Hawkes Bay, with the result being the establishment of the programme nationwide. Apart from becoming the Quality Assurance Manager for this programme, and sole trainer for the team of regional people throughout the country, I also managed the administration staff and was responsible for liasing with Government agencies and managed the legalities of running a business.
I am now the Director of SPEC, South Pacific Educational Courses Ltd. My role is Curriculum Development & Quality Assurance Manager. I am based in the SPEC office to answer your curriculum enquiries, or you may meet me out on the road at training events around the country.
SPEC is supported by a dedicated team of Regional Facilitators who are experienced in the delivery of a self directed approach to learning. The team share the passion for providing the best possible outcomes for students. It is acknowledged that their commitment to the SPEC Facilitator role is over and above their normal teaching and management duties within their own schools. They support SPEC schools within their own geographical area and are available via email contact.
The SPEC office is supported by Eve Vernik. Eve is responsible
for resources and orders. If you wish to contact Eve directly,
