SPEC is an NZQA approved Course owner.

 

SPEC courses are now NZQA approved and lead to:-

 

Certificate in Mainstream Studies (Level 2)

Certificate in Learning Support (Level 1)

 

In February 2008 SPEC received NZQA Course Owner approval.

 

In April 2008 SPEC received approval for Mainstream and Supported Learning courses which now lead to the following:

 

Certificate in Mainstream Studies (Level 2)

 

Which supports the Outcome Statement:

“Students who complete this course will be able to think, relate to others, use language, manage self and

participate and contribute.”

 

 

Certificate in Learning Support (Level 1)

 

Which supports the Outcome Statement:

“Students will demonstrate personal growth, self management, self esteem, motivation and a sense of self worth.”

 

 

Mainstream Courses

 

Students can undertake any mainstream course, and enter at any level.  One Star, Two Star and Three Star and achieve identified unit standards at Levels 1, 2 , 3 and 4 taken from the Core Generic list.  A list of these unit standards can be found in the Teacher’s Manual for Mainstream Courses.

Students can receive SPEC certificates as they progress through the courses.

 

If students complete all SPEC mainstream courses with  SPEC requirements for each level, students will achieve the certificate qualification above.

 

Supported Learning Courses

 

Students can undertake any of the supported learning courses and achieve SPEC certificates.

 

If students complete the SPEC minimum requirements for the TRUMP course, 10 Headway Modules and the Ready for Work course, they will achieve the certificate qualification above.
