SPEC is an NZQA approved Course owner.

 

SPEC courses are now NZQA approved and lead to:-

 

Certificate in Mainstream Studies (Level 1)

Certificate in Mainstream Studies (Level 2)

                              &

Certificate in Learning Support (Level 1)

 

In February 2008 SPEC received NZQA Course Owner approval.

 

In April 2008 SPEC received approval for Mainstream and Supported Learning courses. In December 2010 a further application to NZQA was successful to extend the range of Certificate Qualifications. SPEC now offers the following:

 

112993 - Certificate in Mainstream Studies (Level 1)

 

This certificate is achieved by the successful completion of the Shooting Star Award, the ONE Star Award and ONE Mainstream Interest Module of the student’s choice.  This is a two year course with a focus on developing and demonstrating the Key Competencies. All three components MUST meet the SPEC requirements and be submitted for a SPEC external verification.

 

111205 - Certificate in Mainstream Studies - South Pacific Educational Courses Limited (Level 2)

 

This certificate is achieved by the successful completion of the TWO Star Award and the THREE Star Award. This is a two year course with a focus on developing and demonstrating the Key Competencies at a higher level. Both components MUST meet the SPEC requirements and be submitted for a SPEC external verification.  

 

111296 - Certificate in Learning Support (Level 1)

 

This certificate is achieved by successful completion of the TRUMP course, a selection of ten Headway Modules and the Ready for Work Course. This is a course that has a flexible time frame for student who display a range of learning needs. This course may take 3 - 5 years to complete.

 

“Students will demonstrate personal growth, self management, self esteem, motivation and a sense of self worth.”

All components MUST meet the SPEC requirements and be submitted for a SPEC external verification.  

 

The three NZQA Approved Certificate Qualifications carry the following statement on the certificate:

 

“The course is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under section 258 of the Education Act 1989”.
