The Mainstream Interest Modules are available to non-members.
You may order any of the Mainstream Interest Modules to use as a resource with your students. However each student MUST have their own Interest Module workbook to work from.
Each module workbook comes with its’ own certificate. Students MUST choose twelve tasks to complete. There is a requirement to complete two plans and two reviews and to complete a Key Competency summary. The certificates are awarded by teachers when the requirements have been met. It is important to embrace the self directed approach to learning and to encourage the development of Key Competencies alongside the completion of the tasks. The modules are being used in a variety of ways in schools to generate evidence for the literacy and numeracy unit standards, to accrue NCEA credits from other unit standards . To motivate disengaged students or to simply provide a meaningful and relevant course for any student who requires an alternative course.
The Kiwi Quest course and the Kiwi Interest Modules are available to non-members. These courses are aimed for the primary/intermediate age range. There are packs of photocopiable certificates to go with the Kiwi Quest course (right). These are resources you can use for whole groups, or for individuals who have become disengaged or who need support with their learning. The ethos and principles are the same as for all our other courses, encouraging a self directed approach to learning with students taking more control and making ‘good’ choices. The emphasis is on developing the Key Competencies and therefore the focus is on the whole person, rather than on a specific subject.
Students are encouraged to take part in practical applications and build up a portfolio of evidence. Students are encouraged to become self motivated and self organised and apply problem solving techniques. They engage in ‘relating to others’ and ‘participating and contributing’ in its widest sense.
The Kiwi Quest Primary/Intermediate courses are available to non-members.
NB: SPEC Members can deliver all SPEC courses and order SPEC resources.
